Formula 22 Round Six
December 21, 2024

The final round of Formula 22 and final race of the year was held in conjunction with our Christmas party.

Race temperature was in the 60s and the track had reasonable grip. Seven drivers made it to the line. Once again, Dave topped the podium with 227.3 laps and a series record 3.685 best lap. John had his best race in F22 increasing his laps to 225.59 and a best of 3.739. Mel’s Aston ran third with 214.65 laps and a 3.841 lap. Mel was the co-recipient of the coveted Colapinto award this week for his agricultural excursion across the infield.

Erik was fourth with 208.71 laps and a best of 3.804. Randy came in fifth running 205.35 laps and a 4.071. Kim brought her Texas Tech special and despite stripping a dreaded NSR crown gear still managed 124.71 laps and a 4.324. Kim was looking very smooth in the third heat. Brian’s yellow B&H livery brought up the rear with 72.95 laps and a 4.023 best lap. Brian was the other co-recipient of the Colapinto award for trying his best to set his car on fire.

The ASCC Christmas party had lots of food and gifts to enjoy. Russell brought Rudy’s BBQ with brisket, cold slaw and potato salad. John had a smoked ham and cookies. Kim brought her world class apple pie.

The white elephant gift grab was fun as always. Items included a Texas shaped waffle iron, a slot car tool set, several motorsports books and a Lego 512 Ferrari. Roy brought one of his crafted wood bowls and Brian managed to snatch it up. Although Marty and Marc were missed, a good time was had by all.

So ends the 2024 season and time to prep our cars for 2025.
