NSR Formula 22 Race 5

The weather warmed up and with Randy’s assistance, the clubhouse temperature was very nice. Five drivers entered Group A and two were in Group B for the penultimate race for Formula 22. Brian put new batteries in the mag marshal and everyone passed tech with flying colors.

Group B was won by Randy piloting his white Chaparral liveried car with 204.25 laps a
nd a best time of 4.15. Mark Lyon followed in second running his Alfa to 200.26 laps and best of 4.222. This week’s Colapinto award went to the computer for not setting itself to 10 volts for Group B causing a spectacular crash in the first turn. Ok, John as race manager will take the blame.
Group A once again saw Dave win the class piloting his papaya and black McLaren to 228.91 laps and a series lap record of 3.658 seconds. John’s Aston followed in second turning 223.97 laps and a best of 3.741. Third went to Marty’s Mercedes running 218.23 laps and quick lap of 3.911. Brian’s red Ferrari came in fourth with 210.27 laps and a 3.924. Mel had a rough day with more deslots than usual. His green Aston took fifth with 202.35 laps and a best of 3.991.
The final round of Formula 22 and last race for the year will be December 20 in conjunction with the Christmas party. Third place for the series will be decided at the final so don’t miss this one. It will be a large time!
