Touche! Having said that, the most popular chassis for our tracks is the stiffer green version. Routed tracks that are as smooth as ours perform better with a stiffer chassis. Plastic tracks that have more bumps due to the warping of the plastic and the numerous joints require a chassis that is more forgiving. That in no means dictates you cannot or should not try something different. 🙂
Will the super stiff green chassis be allowed for this series?
*UPDATE*
Thunderslot posted pics of the McLarens on their Facebook page this morning and it sounded like they were going to be available sooner than Armchair racer was predicting. I asked Thunderslot when we might see these cars in the States and they replied “Christmas +0-“. Sounds like they might be here sooner than expected.
Nice choice. The Lancia’s have been very fast on our track.
Thanks for the heads up on the swap. Let’s keep it like it is.
I appreciate the adjustment to the credit card rule but I don’t know about the 1mm smaller diameter tires. The glue in guide adapter on both of my cars have been put in at a depth to account for the larger diameter. I don’t know if they would work with the smaller diameter of the front wheels. I will check on it.
I can tell you that increased float makes a huge difference in the performance of these cars. I am running my body screws all the way out and allowing the body to have tons of float.
All – The official 2019 Austin Slot Car Club Race Schedule is published. The only small change we might want to discuss is the timing of the Thunderslot series and the availability of the new McLaren cars from Thunderslot. We might think about moving that series back from Q2 to Q3 and move up the NSR 908/3 series to Q2 from Q3. We can discuss at our next meeting. Please post any additional questions or concerns.
Good luck with it Randy!
I was also thinking about the BRM Group C cars. We used to run them every year but have not run them for a few years now. The new anglewinder chassis is perfect and these would be great cars to run. Cars and parts readily available and we know they work. Thoughts?
To Radial T/A’s comment about the NSR Corvetts – We could also run the NSR Porsche 911 GT3 as a cup car series. Stock-ish series, plenty of liveries, easy to find, parts available. Thoughts?
