Moved to Austin 3 years ago – finally settled down allowing me to do a slot track in the garage..
been in planning stages for quite a while, finally finished the track drawings today 1:1 scale – now ready to transfer to the MDF this weekend (the week better hurry or I m gonna hurt someone)
I need to pick up a few things (router bit – copper tape etc) Now I just need to find em somewhere in Austin.
Just wanted to chime in say hello, hopefully visit the track sometimes again (I’ve went on opening day)

Clyde,
I guess you can pick the router bit at Home Depot. I bought my copper tape from Jay Hodges (jayhodges@mindspring.com), he is registered at Slot Car Illustrated. The rolls are 1/4″ wide and have 108 feet, the cost is $7 a piece.
Bring some cars to the track to race with us.

Thanks for the tip on where to pick up the 1/8 bit
its a 1/4 shank, wont fit my PorterCable 6902 (1/2 inch hank) need to order a new collet 🙁 but nonetheless the routing is coming SOON.

Clyde,
I have a routing bit for braid if that is the direction you are going to go with your track. Let me know and you can use it.
Good Luck,

hmm tempting
I was looking at the bit, thinking 35.00 or so + braid, etc:
then looking at copper tape + taping tool (40.00) etc I might as well go for braid this time around – my track is not small, its pretty large some days I m kicking myself – some days I m happy.
checked braid – guy in San Antonio – has braid at .28 cents a foot at 500 foot or under, and 22 cents a foot at 1K, difference in price is 40.00 I’m wondering if I m doing my math wrong
.28 * 500 ft = 140.00
.22 * 1000 ft = 220.00 (an extra 500 feet for only 80 bucks and you cant get 500 for that price)decisions, decisions 🙂
Thanks for the offer, I ll stop by sometimes during winter break with my son again and decide on braid/copper
