Hi Guys,
I’ve been struggling with a cramped workbench for some time. I’m inherently messy (working on that), which doesn’t help with efficient space utilization, especially if I’m working on more than one car. So I thought about going vertical. (-ish). The pics below are my first prototype of a stand that allows me to get a car out of the way, but keep it in the work stream. I’m still iterating on design, but this first version is definitely serviceable. Next prototypes may include an adjustable slot length for cars that have odd guide to axle placements, and pegs near the top edge to hold the body up and out of the way while I work on the chassis on a proper setup block. It breaks down for easy storage in a drawer of pit box.
Interested in feedback. Will bring a version or two to the next race/club meeting for all to see/touch if you want.
B

Brian – looks cool! Seems to me that ASCC members with 3DP printing skills and equipment could collaborate on various jigs, scrutineering gauges and other tools such as this.
I use a small parts “bin” from hardware big-box stores that are just deep enough to contain cars in various stages of setup or repair.
