After months of only racing Lemans flexis; we mixed it up with NASCAR COT Sedans.  This is also practice for a race Oct 23 at Dallas Slot Cars (i.e. Jay and Shontell’s track).

It was brutal as usual, with many casualties; the NASCAR’s are top and tail heavy, thus hard to control in tight corners.  We each had a heat on each of the 8 lanes, and had to marshall 3 heats each.  The sit-outs are the danger-period when you can loose your place unless you have at least 50 lap leads on the next guy.  Some guys are super fast but the trick is to be steady, avoid pile-ups and de-slots in the climb and super-tight ‘finger/pinch’ corner.

RULES:  Body: late model COT style; Mandatory: Full interior (lexan driver, cabin) .  Visible front wheels.  Prohibited: additional spoilers, diaplanes, side-dams, visible guide or motor/axle.

Chassis: Various brands of Cheetah-style flexi chassis of aluminum or steel; upgrade aluminum or lightweight steel “pans” allowed.  Must have 1.6mm/.063in clearance from track.  Pins or clips for body mounting.

      Motor:  JK-brand Hawk-7 48k sealed-can motor; or Pro-Slot 4002FK 48k open-can motor.

3 minute heats; 3 min pits; 8 heats per racer; lap counts determine place.  Fastest lap is only for bragging rights only.  Last nights race was 2.5hr long … with 8 racers the average is still 2hr.

Thanks Marty, I love this sport!
Soon I will be posting a “report” from a recent visit to Dallas Slot Cars. We saw Ken Stevens from HSARC there; as a reminder he entered a car in the DTM Proxy and we raced him in May at Houston. He seems to be very versatile and active; racing in Houston, Dallas, Austin, and San Antonio, often being in the top-half, if not P1-P4.

At 4-years old in Pensacola I repaired my steering linkage on my Ford Pedal-car. Dad later converted this car to a Blue Angel with ailerons and elevators with a working "stick/yoke"; the rudder was controlled by the steering wheel. I like all motorsports - I grew up going to a NASCAR Feeder track with Sportsman and Modified classes, and was lucky to attend drag races in 1970 at Orange County Raceway. My first solder-iron was a Christmas gift at 9yo; I modified T-Jets to be AFX spec before AFX Cars were in local stores. I rebuilt a few tractor & car (SIMCA) engines plus transmissions by 15yo (I still have my ring-compressor and valve spring tool) I am a former mountain and road bike geek & perennial sound engineer. Struggling guitar hobbyist and Amp "tweeker"
