Saddened today to hear about the loss of a slot car, model car and racing legend – Oscar Koveleski. If you were into any of these things in the 60’s, 70’s or 80’s you have to have known him or his company – Auto World. The Auto World catalog was THE place to go for models and slot cars. I have great memories of spending hours upon hours going through every page of his catalogs and lusting over all the great products and services he provided. His company played a big role in developing my love for the hobby that continues to this day. Thank you so very much Oscar Koveleski.

Well said, Marty.  That catalog was indispensable and Kovaleski was a real character at the track.

          RIP – Oscar : (

BTW – Autoworld is still a great vendor of:
–Aurora style pancake motor AFX cars, parts, track-sets (4-Gear, Xtraction, T-Jet)
          –Die-Cast 1/25 and 1/18
–AMT 1-25 metal chassis DIY slot-car kits (+Plafit motors, +classic static model style bodies with more durable plastic, -crappy steel adjustable chassis, -weird old-school wheels/tires/axles)

*stock varies quarterly; some products are only offered once

I saw him up close at Mid-Ohio a couple of times with the painted slot car track livery.  Quite a racer.  RIP  Wasn’t he also president of the Polish Racing Drivers Assoc.?
