Browsing the Spanish slot forums I came across this website: https://www.slotcar-today.com/. It is like a blog for slot car news, seems to be fairly new as there is not a lot of content.
Anyway, one of the headlines was: NEW Formula 1. It is a new generic Formula 1 car made by Ostorero, not specific to any team. Apparently the body is made of plastic and it will only be offered as a white kit.
I can see us running a series using those as basis — depending on price, Ostorero models are not known for their affordability. I would probably add a front bumper like it is done on the larger 1:24 models (picture).
So here is the ostorero Formula GP car:
Copied from the article (https://www.slotcar-today.com/en/notices/2012/05/new-formula-1-cars-375.php):
“The best Formula arrivesWhat happens when someone who has passed through the best design centers of the greatest F1 Teams decided to apply his experience in the slot world? With Daniele Ostorero behind this premises only might happen something good. And the proofs are the pictures that just released Ostorero.
These are the prototypes for a new range of Ostorero called GP Formula. Few cars with plastic body, without the reproduction of any specified team, a imaginary Formula 1 based on the last seasons single seaters, which will served in kit with a sheet of Decal in order that each one can decorated it as desired.
Are a 1:32 scale car with a good studied chassis, very competitive, with own Ostorero mechanical and with the possibility to be fitted well rubber tires or foam tires, to adapt it to the specific rules each club.
Shortly we may provide further information and availability dates.” -

Those look great! This is the car we are looking for to hold a proper F1 races series. I hope they are actually going into production. Did you hear anything about a cost?

Models will be priced to be competitive with the RTR plastic brands.

That’s great news. Let’s see how competitive they will actually be. (Hoping for best.)

I just recently spoke with the folks at Osterero in Italy, and they are working with another Italian company to produce decals to make cars from the second tier F1 teams- Force India, Caterham, Marussia, Sauber, and Williams. My only concern is whether there will be enough room inside to place Slot-it Oxigen chips. I guess I’ll find out soon enough. If any of you have one of these already, I would love to see it. Please contact me at your convenience.
