Hi guys – Major Buzzkill checking in!
      STEREO KNOBS
Two years ago someone went Ape with the Selector knob on our Marantz stereo and twisted it so bad that to listen to a phone/MP3 player the knob had to point (incorrectly) to TAPE-1, instead of the correct AUX. Last week King Kong did it again further twisting the knob way out of whack! I hope and assume that nobody from our club is mauling the stereo that Russ is generously lending us.   ** I was able to carefully remove and re-set the knob – Now to listen to a phone or MP3 player the knob has to be on AUX.

! The ONLY things you should change on the amp is the Power switch and Volume knob. Leave all other switches and knobs alone. I have emailed Rudy to make sure all King’s employees get the same message.

      DON’T CLOSE BROWSERS
After each race the video needs to be uploaded to YouTube – this process takes several hours. When using the “TV computer” please DO NOT RE-USE or CLOSE ANY EXISTING BROWSER windows, especially if it is on ASCC’s YouTube channel. This happened recently and Steve had to re-upload the video.

      BATHROOM
Last weekend I fixed the leaking shop-sink, JIC you ever use that. This weekend I (again) fixed the back toilet. However it is still slow filling the tank – so BE PATIENT when you drop a huge deuce needing multiple flushes!
And – please please pay attention to the sign on the door and LOCK THE DOOR by turning the Key Left – When you LEAVE the bathroom. The latch is Not automatic – you Must turn the key to keep the door shut and to Prevent the AC from leaking out of the bathroom.

      CATALOGS
Magazines and parts catalogs have been organized. Catalogs and slot car books are on the shelf next to the stereo. Magazines are grouped with similar titles and are in the lower right hand side (facing the truing bench) of the ARK.

            Mark,

Thanks for all the work on the club room, especially the bathroom!

On Sat May 26 I draped the Ark with the tarp. (On Thurs there was noticeable drop-through from the gaps between the covers.) Next step is we need bungees and mounting holes or hole-bolts.

                POWER SUPPLIES
                — The Rally Power Supply is fixed. The voltage control pot (potentiometer) had it’s case broken, either by slamming the P/S computer cubby door on the knob, or an overly enthusiastic racer trying to dial in a voltage. A multi-turn precision pot -like the won that broke- was installed; it has some metal reinforcements on the case in the back so hopefully is lasts.
MIN voltage is 8.24, MAX 15.7 – currently set at 10v for October.

!! The MASTEC (big truing-machine power supply) has *again been Over-voltaged – While I was at Fryes Sat afternoon, someone clipped the Red(positive) wire on the Black(negative) post. This is the 2nd time in about 3 weeks – come on guys pay a little more attention when you are putting up things!

UPDATE -The MASTEC has been reset; to reset it unplug it from the power strip behind the computer (I have a tag on the MASTECs power cord). Give it a day to discharge its capacitors and fully re-set. Erik somehow tripped if the other day when truing tires on the ‘new’ dual-wheel truer. Maybe this thing needs to be replaced?! I will discuss at annual meeting.

BROWN REFER – I am moving drinks out of the dorm fridge below the TV PC. It seems to Freeze everything *regardless of coldness setting. I suspect the Sensor attached to the freezer-can has died. These are generally not replaceable/repairable at a reasonable cost. We may need to get a new fridge at Goodwill.

                    PIT TABLE LIGHTS
I have purchased three 36inch LED shop lights – for $15/ea! These have a very high output (4,000 Lumens) and should light up the pit table very nicely. I will install soon, hanging from the ceiling.
Alejandro has donated some LED strips and companion power supplies; I will experiment with mounting those under the shelf where the Truing machines and power supplies are.

I turned off the heater next to the rally course today at about noon.

Mark, mounting any lights at the equipment station will be difficult as there is no under shelf space.  I do not believe that I want an undershelf light at my station.  I think the hanging LED lights will be sufficient.

                        Thanks

No problem Russ! Nothing under the shelf.

BTW- with the LED strips Alex has there is plenty of room (if stapled or otherwise tightly afixed to the bottom of the shelf). But those LEDs are so freaking bright they may blind someone!
                          — I may actually be able to retrofit the ‘old’ right-side shop light with the LEDs, as an experiment.

This Thursday evening I opened the tire trueing machine cabinet and notice two tires still mounted on the high tech truer.  The machine was covered in rubber, but the compressor would not blow away the tire dust.  There was oil/(lighter fluid? ) fused or compounded with rubber.  I prefer the other truer so I just put the mess back in the shelf.

Some one please clean the machine and take the tires.  It only seems fair that who ever left it messed up should clean it

I did not do it but I will put the wheels/tires in a bag on the cork board (assuming they are still good) and clean the machine (I also cleaned it last Saturday).

At 4-years old in Pensacola I repaired my steering linkage on my Ford Pedal-car. Dad later converted this car to a Blue Angel with ailerons and elevators with a working "stick/yoke"; the rudder was controlled by the steering wheel. I like all motorsports - I grew up going to a NASCAR Feeder track with Sportsman and Modified classes, and was lucky to attend drag races in 1970 at Orange County Raceway. My first solder-iron was a Christmas gift at 9yo; I modified T-Jets to be AFX spec before AFX Cars were in local stores. I rebuilt a few tractor & car (SIMCA) engines plus transmissions by 15yo (I still have my ring-compressor and valve spring tool) I am a former mountain and road bike geek & perennial sound engineer.
