Several weeks ago, we talked of starting a BRM Challenge Series with the first race “maybe” this coming Saturday, April 30th. Is this still the plan?
I believe we also talked of running 10 minute heats with RED motors. I am down with this format if we can allow a few additional minutes between heats for motor cool down. It’s really tough on the equipment if you have to go back to back to back with your heats.
Any thoughts?

We talked about running an endurance race with 10 min heats; teams of 2 based on either El Piloto or Slot.it classification.
Now, the issue with the red motors getting super hot and losing performance is actually a nice challenge; a team would have to balance speed vs. longevity. If you use a taller gear ratio, the motor wont get so hot but you also loose speed.
I would suggest to race 10 min. heats every 3 minutes; if your motor burns out, you can change it on green.LET’S DO THIS !!!!
I will bring some computer fans to cool down the cars between heats. -

Ary,
Does the “team format” mean one car shared by 2 drivers? Would each team run 6 total heats (each driver races in all 3 lanes)?

Is this the format we are using for this Saturday’s race? If so, how are we picking the two driver teams?
I like the idea of 10 minute heats with two minute breaks. Everyone runs red motors?

It depends on how many guys will be racing. I also don’t know if you want to use the Last Slot.it challenge as a guide or El Piloto but raving six racers I would suggest first place with sixth place, second with fifth and third with fourth. With seven racers the suggestion is first with sixth and seventh places (2 heats per racer), second with fifth and third with fourth.

One car per team using our BRM rules and RED motors (I will bring some bacon to fry on top of them).

Chris and I need to make a trip to Houston this Saturday so I can’t make it to the track.

With only four BRM racers present at the track it was impossible to follow through on the BRM races using the team format as we had discussed earlier. Instead we ran four racers – Jim, Roy, Marty and Maxwell (using Ary’s car). We ran five minute heats with three people running and two people marshalling.
The racing was great. It was everything we have come to expect from BRM races – close times and lots of fun. The one thing that we did not experience was any mechanicals. It looks like everyone is getting better at setting up their BRM’s for speed and durability as there were no mechanicals and the lap times were low.
When its all said and done the top three were separated by only five laps. Great racing!
I hope we can all get together and run in the team format we discussed earlier. I know it will be loads of fun.
