Book Review – The Brothers Rodriguez
OK I realize this is a slot car club but I couldn’t let this go without mentioning it. I recently purchased a painting that came with an autograph of Pedro Rodriguez the famous Mexican racing driver from the 60’s and early 70’s. In looking at the signature I realized I didn’t really know much about his career other than the time spent with John Wyer’s Gulf team. I started looking into his life and discovered a book that was written on him and his less famous brother Ricardo. The book looked interesting but was a little expensive even for a used copy. I began to read some of the reviews of the book and discovered that all of them said the book was expensive but was worth every penny as it gave a very detailed look at the two brothers and the period they raced in. With those customer reviews I spent the $120 and hoped the book would be worth it.
Now that the book has arrived I can easily say it was worth every penny. I have numerous racing books but don’t have one that is as detailed about a specific driver and the time in which he raced. The book is huge – 607 pages or 8.6 pounds huge. It is filled with great photography from the 50’s, 60’s and early 70’s. I have only read about 20 pages but can already tell this will be a great book. I would easily recommend it to anyone who is interested in Pedro Rodriguez or racing during that great period. Great book!
