This is the discussion page for the October 2021 planning meeting for proposed classes in 2022. Until the club decides on the classes for next year, please keep this topic “proposed” not “decided”. The club will post the final decisions after the October meeting.

RevoSlot for 2022!
I am sure everyone remembers the rear tire issues we ran into when running the RevoSlot cars. There were a couple of different options tried ranging from Paul Gage tires mounted to the stock RevoSlot wheels to changing out the 3mm axle for a 3/32 which involves the change of wheels, axle, and bushings. This option would possibly work but it’s expensive and you now have mismatched wheels from the front to rear.
Wouldn’t it be great if someone made a RevoSlot wheel that would work with a Slot It F30 or NSR Supergrip tire?
I am here to make your dreams come true. Working with Steve at Slot Car Corner for the past nine months we now have CBD rear wheels that work on the 3mm axle and will allow you to run a Slot It or NSR tire. These wheels have not been announced publicly but will be very soon. These wheels are going to be available in a 8mm width and a 10mm width. CB Designs has produced wheel inserts that match the ones used on the RevoSlot cars. This had to be done as the RevoSlot wheel inserts come in multiple sizes and would have made producing wheels with different size interiors a pain in the *ss.
This should make running any RevoSlot car much easier and more enjoyable. The RevoSlot cars were already great running. This one tweak will make them even better.

HOORAY! I say we buy up enough of one width, the correct for Porsche etc., and inserts to cover the 10 or so cars we would run. This means I would want to run RevoSlots in 2022, no ifs, ands or buts.

A few weeks ago when we had the two races, there was discussion back by the rally track of racing a rally class of small cars like original Fiat 500’s, Mini Coopers, and maybe some Penelope Pitlane or other obscure kits. Since we do have some prior modern rally sedans maybe we could run a division of vintage and modern at the same time. Separate discussion has also drifted about having two (2) rally Series each year.

That is good news on the RevoSlot wheels. I would be in favor in running RevoSlot next year.

I like the idea of running small cars on the Rally track. There are quite a variety of small cars that should run well on the rally track. Many of these cars are too small to run well on the big track; there are cars like a birdcage Maserati, Chaparral 1, King Cobra, original 911, C1 Corvette and StingRay, Lancia D50, Ferrari Dino, and many others. Perhaps we could run an “open” class.

My Racer resin 275 GTO held up well on the big track but was slow on the long straights. I have avoided resin cars since then. Do you think small resin rally cars could be competitive due to the short straights? There are more new desirable cars, even available with 3d chassis options and Policar chassis options, beyond open wheel cars. I also have a Fly Porsche 911 with a 3d chassis awaiting assembly in the box that was going to have wide aluminum wheels and wide NSR or Slot.it tires and BFGoodrich Canada decals.

David, I enjoyed watching the Fiat 500 running on the big track (Fairfield Meadow?) after the Saturday race. You mentioned that the chassis does not have adjustable front axle, but I found and lost one with the front axle adjustment on a website. Is there a model number that is late enough to have the newer chassis? I guess some might take this as a rally track car, but I liked the show on Fairfield Meadow road course.

I believe that I was the one who brought up the Group 2 BRM/TTX 1:24 “mini” cars for a possible series. I propose that we defer these cars for consideration for series in the second half of the year. I think that these cars would make an excellent series, I have not run any of them yet. Considering the array of chassis setups, some with differentials, some with freewheeling fronts, and the variety of cars, we need more time with these cars to see which cars and which setups we want to include for a series.

ROUND ONE PLANNING – 2022 ASCC SERIES
Oct 9 we had an in-person meeting with five of our 12 members. We focused only on the First-half (Q1 – Jan-Mar, Q2-Apr-Jun, H1-Jan-Jun) series. These are still open for debate as needed.
Our 2022 First-half – Candidates are:
Q1: Slot.IT Group-C as normal (no rule changes)
Q2: Rally-22-a – Monte Carlo (to give us a chance to finalize rules, obtain cars and spares, etc.)
H1: ThunderSlot (existing cars available [McLaren, Lola]; (if the Elva seems to have an advantage we will need to discuss.)We will soon have a meeting to cover the Second-half (Q3: Jul-Sep, Q4: Oct-Dec, H-2).
Possible Second-half Candidates:
NSR GT-3: Mosler (as ran in 2015)
RevoSlot: (we need to clarify the tire and wheel situ. and what models to allow)
Rally-22-b: Targa-Florio redux (new cars? different years?) -

Thanks for gathering the classes I have heard bandied about for next year. There are classes for which already have a car.
I would especially like to run the Group 5 Racer Sideways Capri that I did not get to drive in the proxy season.
I have the CanAm McLaren and Porsche 917K. I would like to run 0ne of my 3 917K (excluding the “special” one).
I have the Mercedes DTM which I don’t care for. Also the NSR GT3 Corvette I could leave in the box next year. Also the BRM 1/24 Group C which is an expensive, but really unexplored car that I could try. I have a Policar modern F1 that has not been fully developed.
For the Monte Carlo I have a Falcon BFG LeMans Porsche 924 and a Porsche 911 duck tail IMSA Canadian car, both not developed for racing. However, I like the NSR Fiat 500 which would be a new car for me.
A nice option would be the Scalextric BMW E30 PCR spec class for both tracks (allowing for gear ratio and tire changes between tracks). Then we could really imitate the varied terrain in the real Monte Carlo routes. However, the Capri, 917K and Fiat are my first choices.

This website and ones for successive years has some cars listed that we do not have on the CanAm challenge list. I do not know if any of the other cars are available in 1/32 competitive form.
