I have started this thread for people going to Ohio this May to hash out what they are finding as we go forward with our Scaleauto cars.
Question: The “Track clearance” mentioned in the rules, Is that to the clearance of the plastic road surface, or the metal rails? From the rules:
Class
Min. Motor Height Track Clearance
GT3
0.8mm
GT4
1.0mmCarrera Track rails look to be .33mm proud of the plastic surface, at least on the piece I grabbed. The Scaleauto rails according to marty’s writeup are .44mm proud of the plastic track. Will Carrera be close enough for tuning?
Concern: I bought the SC-4046F25 for fronts on my NSX. The inserts are too big for them though. And it’s a bit unclear in the rules anyway. Stock wheels are required to run “hubcaps” Does this mean non stock wheels are not? I really hate the way the rules are laid out, its so easy to get the classes mixed up.
Anyway that’s my gripe for today

-Warren ZevonMarch 4, 2026 at 1:11 PM #27347I wondered the same thing about the nonstick wheels.
March 4, 2026 at 1:32 PM #27348This is what happened under mild cornering with the stock wheels, and the SC-4756AS20 tires under mild cornering on Spottswood. Started to dismount on outside.
Did not have this trouble with tires shipped with car.
Tried to upload photo, but forum is not letting me (under500k)

-Warren ZevonMarch 4, 2026 at 3:13 PM #27408Oh no. The stock wheels are the 17.5’s. I did a bench test on the 16.9’s and thought is seemed tight enough. Clearly need to test on the track. Not optimistic at this…

(Leroy Grumman)March 4, 2026 at 3:30 PM #27409It seems suppliers are pretty much picked clean. IMHO it was a real bonehead play not to have GT4 box-stock.

-Warren ZevonMarch 4, 2026 at 7:57 PM #27418Agree. They made some very basic mistakes when it comes to the spec for each class in requiring or allowing certain part swaps. Gearing and wheels being the biggest challenge.
I suspect they were operating from the baseline that is Ivan’s optimism for availability. The thing is… he (Ivan) has been promising a Lambo Hurrican for over two years and is only now just barely delivering. The same holds true for other models that were promised year over year, but not delivered.

(Leroy Grumman)March 6, 2026 at 10:06 PM #27510I spent some time today weighing the car and parts.
The Callaway box stock car weighs 92 g
chassis 69 gm
downforce 11 gm (the magnet had been removed)
Lexan interior 1 gm
Stock Interior 2 gm (and it is wonderfully painted) It is back in the car,
body 22gm (none of the allowable details removed) 17 gm min. rule
body no interior 19 gm
shake down running on dyno at 12 v, 6,500 rpm +/- 300 rpm
I have not trued the tires since we will not be truing in Burbank. The car is running slightly less vibrating on the dyno and on the track. I have not run it on clean track.
March 11, 2026 at 11:17 AM #27626Wheels and gears arrived today. I have not received the registration material and the tires from AMSCO.
March 17, 2026 at 12:23 PM #27827Chassis are ‘baked’. Was looking at my 3D printer the other day and thought “Hmm… this might be a great chassis flattening platform.” Turns out it is. 🙂
My two chassis weren’t bad. The M8 had a little warp in the front right corner, but the Corvette was largely flat. Maybe just a tiny bit of bow in the middle. They both emerged from the printer flatter than they entered it.
