Build it strong.
Keep it simple.
Make it work.
(Leroy Grumman)November 21, 2011 at 11:29 PM #1533Before 59 is pretty hard to classify a GT car. Here is a list of GT cars that participated on Le Mans, Sebring, Nurburbring & Spa from 59 to 69; the respective slot cars and kits are also listed.
Club members are allowed to view and edit the file.
December 21, 2011 at 6:39 PM #1555I think this car should be allowed as well. It was produced from 1967 to 1970 and was raced at Fuji in 1967. Proto Slot and Racer Silverline has the cars.
December 21, 2011 at 7:23 PM #1556Shawn,
Sounds good to me — add it up!
February 24, 2012 at 11:57 AM #1602Kinda of a mix between El Piloto & Proxy racing. Call me crazy but I think that something like the proposed bellow would be fun:
Cars
- Each participant would build their car and have it ready by round #1.
- Cars would remain untouched throughout the series.
Racing
- Modified El Piloto style.
- Each driver of a round would race all the cars, once, in all lanes. (heat times would be significantly less than 5min)
Scoring
- A participants total will be based on his racing & car scores.
- Driver scoring per heat will be the same used in our other series (10,8,7,6,5 …, +1 for fastest).
- Builder points (car points) will be based on consistency or most laps (to be researched).
Repairs
- If a car needs repairs, the race will be stopped in order to get the car in running order. One point of the car builder total will be deducted.
Thoughts?
February 24, 2012 at 6:18 PM #1603Did the rules change to allow chassis with pods?
The Racer Silverline cars all use Slot It chassis with a pod. What if the pod is run tight? Would it be allowed then?

February 24, 2012 at 6:21 PM #1604I like the concept Ary’s is pitching. Sort of a proxy style race within our own series. I also like Jim’s idea for the Mille Miglia.

February 26, 2012 at 11:34 AM #1605I like Ary’s idea. I especially like trying something different. It would need some tweaking. If I am interpreting what Ary is saying correctly, each driver, driving every car in every lane would be an awful lot of heats. Figuring 8, drivers that would mean each driver would run in 24 heats and the total number of heats run would be very large.

February 26, 2012 at 12:00 PM #1607Yeap! I did the math Yesterday and there’s no way we could run all drivers and all cars.
We would probably need to run each car in one lane only with all drivers rotating. Lets say he have nine cars:
- Race #1 of round #1 would have car A on yellow, car B on blue and car C on green.
- Race #2 of round #1 would have car D, car E and car F.
- Race #3 of round #1 would have cars G, H and I.
Since there are 6 rounds, we can rotate the cas one lane over after every round; this would ensure that all cars were raced in all lanes, twice. If we do have 9 cars participating, each heat should be around 90 seconds long; each full race would take 13.5 minutes, a full round would have 40.5 minutes of racing time (longer with rotation, etc).May 6, 2012 at 3:39 PM #1645Do we have a full set of rules posted? Need to check the compliance of the car I want to race.
May 6, 2012 at 5:17 PM #1646As far as I remember, this is what has changed:
- Cars from 1959 to 1969.
- Podded chassis are not allowed.
- Inline setup mandatory.
- All cars to use the same motor: 14.5K, available from M/T Racing Resins for U$ 7.00. Open motor.
- RTR or scratch-built cars are allowed. Body must be manufactured as 1/32 scale, and may be injection molded or resin cast. No vacuumed formed or blow molded bodies allowed.
- Plastic or resin chassis only – commercial or scratch-built. Chassis may be cut or lengthened to fit aftermarket body.
- Weight may be placed above chassis.
- Minimum interior requirements are:
- Helmeted 3D driver figure, with representation of at least head, shoulders, and arms.
- Driver shall be positioned somewhere near where he would be in real life (ie-in proper seating area and able to “see” out the windshield).
- Interior, with representation of at least dashboard top and rear shelf, as appropriate to actual car (Lightweight materials may be used).
- Interior must be so that one cannot see drivetrain (motor, gears, axle, driveshaft-etc) when looking in through windows.
- Must have full windshield and full rear window. Must also have any rear passenger windows in place. Windows may be vacuum formed.Only the windows in the doors, both sides, may be removed
- There are limitations to the wheels & tires but I cannot remember.
May 6, 2012 at 7:50 PM #1647Thanks, Ary!
May 6, 2012 at 8:25 PM #1648One overlooked item:
7. Weight may be placed above or below chassis.
