Lightning GT 2015 Round 2 EDIT

The racing for Round 2 of the Lightning GT Series for 2015 was much improved.  The change to P6 rear tires helped the cars a lot, lowering them slightly and improving downforce.  Downforce for all the cars was in the 260-280 range. There were far fewer de-slots and red flags. The drivers are adjusting to the different driving styles the magnet cars require. With the super-fast speeds, a deslot becomes even costlier. There are still some issues to be dealt with concerning the cars.  Some of the cars had the guides de-slotting in corners where the edge of the slot has been rounded over.  Not all the cars experienced this problem.  This was probably the fastest overall race on the track.  Even last place covered over 200 laps.  There was lots of side-by-side racing.

Group A saw only two entrants, with Jordan putting in a dominant performance in his new division, turning over 232 laps and a fast time of 3.591.  Steve was almost as quick, turning a 3.636 fast time but had some issues with the car de-slotting.  Steve leads Group A as the only driver to run both rounds.

Rich turned the most laps in Group B at 219.35, with an ever-improving Mark turning 215.81 and the second fastest Group B race lap of 3.664.  Rich and David are now in a very close race in Group B overall, only a point apart and Mark another point back in third.  Austin is an also-close fourth.  The Group B Leaderboard is a little funky; the auto-sorting feature did not work properly.  I adjusted what I could.  The positions in the first column are correct, as are the points, but the row order is not.

I expect the next round to become even closer.  See you at the races!
