Monte Carlo Stage 4, May 21st, 2022
Stage five of the Monte Carly Revival found a somewhat smaller field, but the return of Erik K., and Brian H. Laps were run in the opposite direction of previous stages.
The day started off with Erik K. aka StabnSteer returning with his scratchbuilt Saab 96. After a bit of an unsteady start, the Saab regained its footing, turning in a best lap of 7.732 on its last lap.
Next up was Marty M., aka Porsche 917, running a very sharp looking kitbashed Datsun 240Z. Very quick again, especially with such a narrow car, turning in a best lap of 6.918 seconds.
Marty again, this time aka Vic Elford running a modified Fly Porsche 911. A very fast run with a 6.754 second best lap
Mark L. aka Peter Araignee was up next running a modified Scalextric Ford Escort. A rough day for the little Ford, it was experiencing handling problems early on, but seemed to settle out after a few laps, with a respectable 7.479 second best lap.
Brian H. aka Painthorse One up next in the pretty little SCX MGA. Every time it emerges from the garage it’s faster than the time before, with consistent laps and a 7.644 second best lap.
David C. up aka Wrong Way up next with his modified Fly Porsche 911. Fast, but not as fast as previous outings, with a best lap of 6.803 seconds
David up again aka Butch, with his modded SRC Porsche 914. Always at, or near the top of the field, this time no exception, with a 6.461 best lap.
Up next was Marc T. aka Datto, this time with a Chevrolet Corvair. First time out for this car, it proved more manageable than the Saab run previously, with a 7.567 second best lap.
Up next, Steve B. sitting in for Randy A. as Radial T/A, again with the SRC Porsche 914. Fast right out of the gate, with a 6.942 second best lap
Randy A. aka Bibendum returns with the modified Pioneer Mustang. Thundering around the track the big Pony car clocked a 7.490 second best lap.
John B. aka Lotus Jr. rounded out the field with a modified Fly Porsche 911. The 911 turned quick and consistent laps, almost breaking 7 seconds, with a 7.018 second best lap.
The penultimate round of the series will take place on June 4th and it should be fun to watch as the drivers have gotten better preparing their cars and driving the track. You can watch all the action on the clubs YouTube channel this coming Saturday at 2:30pm central time.
