The fifth round of the 2026 Racer Sideways series saw a limited field. We have had up to 11 racers on field, but this race saw “only” seven. That is not to say that racing was boring. Far from it! The track was a bit persnickety for this round, especially on the back straight, which is actually a gentle curve past the bridge. As we saw in the F1 race earlier in the day, cars were getting loose.
This continued down to the last seconds when Marty finished right behind David. On. His. Roof. So exciting racing all around. The series continues to be dominated by the BMW’s, although with very different setups across the field.
The leaders of the series have all recorded 5 starts, and and the points spread is just wide enough to keep a typical finish from changing the current order. However, a DNS or DNF by the top two drivers may be just enough room for the 3rd and 4th position to flip. Maybe.
