2026 NSR GT3 – Round 2

R2_Field

Thanks to our January ice storm stacking up races in February, the club had a quick turn around for the second round of the NSR GT3 (er… NSR Corvette?) series. The quick turn was evident in the lap times, as the muscle memory from the first race was still fresh. Marty was on a tear this race and set a new series fast lap at 3.773. The entire field saw the overall average lap time drop by almost 2/10ths of a second in the Group A racers! The cars and drivers are starting to get dialed in.

The ‘B’ Group displayed another great round of racing. They also enjoyed welcoming a new racer to the group, Josh C. and one more starting with the next round in March, Stephen B. It’s great to see the club growing!

Looking at the GT3 setups for this round, we see the predictable differences of weight and gearing. The heavier cars are beginning to emerge as the leaders, despite the difference in gear ratios. The cars with combined weights (car weight plus magnetic downforce) over 90 grams are leading. However, just adding weight isn’t a guarantee of better performance, as balance, tires, gearing, and the accompanying driver style still combine to play a big part. It will be interesting to see how setups change, and also if we see any diversification in the field with other car brands.

Finally, the requisite leader boards and podium pics follow.
