NSR Formula 22 – Race 2

NSR Formula 22 Round 2
10/25/2025

A front moved through Austin, cooling down the clubhouse a bit for Saturday’s race. The room was busy as we had 10 entries in F22, 7 in A group and 3 in B.

B Group was first on the grid. Randy won the class with 199 laps and a best time of 4.220 with his white Chaparral. Kim came in 2nd turning a 167 laps and a best of 4.561 with her red and black Alfa. Pretty sure this is a personal best for Kim. Mark was beset with mechanical gremlins in the first two heats, but came back in the third heat to run 69 laps and a best of 4.598. Once Mark gets his car sorted, he should be a strong competitor in Group B.

A Group was hotly contested, although the track was a bit slower than Round 1. Dave took 1st with his McLaren turning 225 laps and best time of 3.743. John’s Aston ran a strong second 221 laps and a 3.805. Erik’s McLaren ran a close 219 laps and 3.861 best for third. Fourth went to Marty’s Mercedes at 216 laps and a 3.903. Marc Tyler’s very sharp Red Bull ran fifth with 207 laps and a 3.951. Mel came in sixth turning 203 laps and a 3.970. Seventh went to Brian’s Renault with 199 laps and a 4.07.

Overall, it was a great day at the Austin Slot Car Club. Besides the excellent racing, a lot of interesting stories were told. Some of them may have been true.
