      Ary,

Thank you for sharing this valuable information. I never considered there would be gear compatibility issues with Slot.It gears. It does make perfect sense that you cannot maintain a pinion pitch by varying tooth count in a same diameter gear. If you machine the crown hub to eliminate the ridge, it would be possible to run a 10 tooth 6.5mm pinion with any Slot.It crown gear, but since gear modification is not legal, we couldn’t race with that combo.

Let me see if I have this straight:

Club Night Thursdays are free to club members, non-members have to pay rental fees to Kings.

All Saturdays, play day or race day, cost a flat $5 to club members. These fees are payable to Kings when we show up to run. I was totally unaware of these fees due to Kings, so I suppose I owe Kings $100 for all the Saturdays I have run since the first of the year. Is this something new, or was I ignorant as usual?

If I am not in a team can I join one?

            Marty,

            Here are my observations:

Rear Tires: Wear looked normal with slight accumulation of rubber on outer edges, just like in shorter duration heats.

Front Tires: Normal buildup of rubber on outer edges. May have induced slight bounce, but really not anything out of the ordinary.

Braid: I was running the thinner silver braid. After 20 minutes, areas of bare copper are starting to appear.

Bushings: No detectable wear. I did lube front and rear axles, the motor bushings, and the gears before starting the race. I did NOT lube the braids as I currently don’t have anything to do that with. I did NOT stop and clean the tires during the session. Grip was good and cleaning was not deemed necessary.

I’m not sure how I would have felt after 3 sessions, especially back to back to back. Kings was closing, so I didn’t have time for any additional running.

              Lady and Gents,

Late Saturday afternoon, I ran a simulated 20 minute heat using the pink motor, shore 30 (stock) tires, and 9/36 gears. The track voltage was 10.12 volts, blue lane. Here are my results:

              275 laps

              median lap time 4.35

              fastest lap 4.24

I had one de-slot in the esses. Don’t glance at the clock when approaching the esses. The biggest suprise was that after running hard for 20 straight minutes, the pink motor didn’t seem any hotter than it does after running a 5 or 10 minute heat.

When I stopped running and turned away from the track, I was slightly dizzy feeling, but recovered quickly. I guess watching your car turn 275 consecutive laps can do that to you.The first 10 minutes dragged slightly, but I got my second wind for the final 10 minutes.

This is ONE car racing for 2 hours, correct? Pink motors allowed?

I'd be up for that.  Just tell us what motors to run.

                    Russell,

I like your idea since I seem to have a propensity to be stuck with motors in the lower performance category. It's not fun to be lapped 5 times a heat. I have even considered making this Slot.It challenge my last one. It's a great class, but I'm not competitive with my motor draws.

I’d be willing to do this. I’ll be entering in as well.

                        Ary,

Does the “team format” mean one car shared by 2 drivers? Would each team run 6 total heats (each driver races in all 3 lanes)?

Just be careful on white cars as it might yellow the white. Also I’m reading that the Tamiya Clear TS13 might dissolve decals as evidenced by Ary’s Marlboro 997 NSR. I’ve had really good luck with the Testor’s GlossKote spray.

                            Shawn,

Thanks for the “news” about BRM car bodies. I guess its time to get out the Future Floor finish. I’ve never used it before as a clear coat, but everything I’ve read claims it can be airbrushed on straight from the bottle, no reducing required.

                              Ary,

Let me know what gears you use on the EVO version, and I will gear the pink motor the same. I can use my Kenwood car as the test bed.

I was looking at the Carrera braids at Kings. Is there a possibility they would work? They may be too short for the wood guide. I think I may have some Carrera braids. I’ll check it out this afternoon. I’m using the BRM braids for plastic tracks (Ninco?) I got from 132slotcar.us (Alan).

                                Brian,

The are NO membership cards for April thru November. We will need 4 April cards for this family membership unless we just issue 1 card per family.

                                Thanks,

I just signed up Clark to a family membership, with check in hand.

I will bring the membership form and check to tonite’s Thursday nite play day.
