Ayrton Senna film wins Sundance award
Jan.30 (GMM) The new movie on Ayrton Senna has triumphed in scooping a prestigious award at the famous Sundance Film Festival. On the back of rave reviews from American media getting their first glimpses this week of the ‘Senna’ documentary that chronicles the life of the late three-time world champion, the film makers secured an official prize too.

The film, which was released in Japan and Brazil last year and will be screened worldwide throughout 2011, was awarded the World Cinema Audience Award for Documentary Film.
Director Asif Kapadia accepted the award on stage at the Sundance Festival, having flown back to the festival from a screening of the film in Salt Lake City.
“This is amazing, thank you so much,” he said. “This festival has restored my faith in festivals. It has just been amazing – and this [award] tops it off.”
The Senna film is due to be released in the United Kingdom in June this year, to coincide with the build-up to the British Grand Prix.
It has achieved huge success in the countries where it has been shown, and the Sundance Award will be a huge boost to its chances of being a hit in the massive American market.
