2026 Series Candidates

Saturday, October 14, the club held their annual planning meeting to discuss and nominate the candidates for our 2026 racing series.  Twelve candidates were discussed.  Of the twelve, three races were considered "standard" and will occupy the schedule without further voting.  Two for the rally track and one for the road track:

Standard Races

  • Targa Florio 1970 to 1973
  • NSR Fiat Abarth Rally
  • F1 - NSR 1986 - 1989

The candidate races that will go up for vote are:

  • NSR Porsche 997 Challenge (Coin flip to decide Road or Rally track on race day)
  • El Piloto (ScaleAuto Pre-war Classic GP or NSR McLarens, depending on availability)
  • RevoSlot GT2 Series
  • NSR GT3 Series
  • Slot.it Group C Series
  • BRM GT40/Ferrari P3 Series

Details for each of the six candidates follow.

A poll will be released for members to rank races in their individual order of preference, from which the final list will be derived.

NSR Porsche 997 Challenge

  • Box-stock time-trial series featuring the NSR Porsche 997.
  • Race format: 60 laps on road track, (lane TBD by lot) or 40 laps on rally track.
    Track choice to be determined by coin toss AFTER TECH.
  • Body
    • The body cannot be modified in any way.
    • The stock plastic cockpits and glass are mandatory
    • Lexan cockpits or glass are prohibited.
    • Body must start every heat with radiators, windows, and wings in their correct location.  If any of these items fall off during a heat they must be repaired before the next heat starts.
    • Antennas, mirrors, wipers, and tow hooks are not required and do not have to be replaced if they come off.
    • White kits are allowed but must be painted, or uniquely decaled.  At least two numbers must be visible.
    • Duplicate liveries are discouraged.
    • Body screws open choice.  These can be taped to prevent loss. Any car that loses a screw and causes an issue with a competitor’s car May have a 15 second penalty applied.
  • Chassis
    • No modifications to the chassis are allowed.
    • The stock NSR BLACK chassis must be used
  • Guide
    • NSR guides are mandatory.
    • Pick-up braids are open choice.
    • Guide spacers are open choice
    • NSR RED drop-arm mandatory. May be loose or fixed
  • Set Up
    • Wheel/tire must not be visible outside wheel-well/fender when viewed from above.
    • Guides may be trimmed and profiled.
    • Magnetic downforce cannot exceed (some arbitrary figure) grams.
  • Motor
    • Stock NSR Shark 21.5, or King 21/evo must be used
    • Lead wires and lead wire guide terminals are open choice.
  • Motor Pod
    • NSR RED Sidewinder or Angle-winder motor pod required
    • The motor pod is prohibited from protruding below the chassis.
    • Flashing may be removed from the motor pod to allow better float. Excessive removal of material determined by the scrutineer.
    • Motor can be held in place with screws.  Screws are open choice.
    • Motors cannot be held in with tape or glue.
    • NSR stop/axle collars are allowed.
    • Spacers/washers are open choice.
    • NSR Bronze bearings mandatory
    • Pod screws are open choice.
    • Tape may be used to prevent the pod screws from falling out.
    • Tape over the motor pod to limit pod movement is not allowed.
  • Gears
    • NSR stock gearing mandatory
  • Wheels
    • NSR stock wheels mandatory
    • NSR wheel inserts are mandatory No inserts may incur a 15 second penalty
  • Axles
    • Only NSR axles are allowed.
    • Any modifications to axles (other than polishing) are prohibited.
    • Axle spacers and axle stops are allowed.
  • Tires
    • Front tires must be NSR
    • Front tires must be 8mm wide.
    • Rear tires can be any 10mm width NSR Supergrip or Ultragrip tire.
    • Tires may be glued to the wheels, trued, and have their edges rounded.
    • Traction compounds are prohibited.
    • Varnishing the front tires to make them slick is not allowed.
  • Track Power
    • Road track: 12v.
    • Rally track: variable

El Piloto

ScaleAuto Pre-War Classic GP

  • H2 Series
  • All cars will be mechanically prepared by one person. The preparer's laps will be limited to the minimum necessary to confirm stability and mechanical viability at the start of the series, and after any maintenance required between races.
  • All cars will be painted in a historically accurate livery. (Painting may be done by a person other than the one responsible for preparing the mechanicals.)
  • Cars will remain in parc ferme' between races.
  • Cars will be available for practice for up to 2 minutes to each racer on race day.
  • Cars will be raced in the same lane for every heat at each race.
  • Cars will rotate to a new lane at each race.
  • Cars will be raced at 11.5v to 12.5v, to be determined during initial car preparation.
  • Cars will may be auctioned to club members, distributed as prizes, kept for following season, or a combination of these dispositions at the end of the season. Subject to membership approval.

NSR McLaren (Based on NSR GT3 Rules, subject to modification by series mgr.)

Body

  • Required: OEM hard glass & cockpit (no Lexan). At the start of each weekly-round & all Heats; major body parts (esp. windows, lights, wings) must be intact. Wings must be re-attached for each heat. Permitted: Wings can be reinforced with ShoeGoo, styrene or rubber (e.g. Thunderslot donut holes cut to parallelogram shape).

Chassis

  • OEM Black-Medium hard
    Required: Drop Arm - Red/Hard (NSR-1234)  Permitted:  Arm may be screw-fixed, floppy, or spring-loaded.
  • Permitted: Flash may be sanded; and molding nipples removed. Ballast for tuning weight-distribution on chassis or motor pod.
  • NSR Guides -Wood (deep/long)
  • Prohibited: Magnets; ballast below the pan; gaps with body and chassis (or pod) exceeding 1mm (credit card thickness)

Motor

  • (OEM) Shark-25-EVO (NSR-3043; 25K 180GM)

Motor Pod

  • Sidewinder OEM Red/Hard (NSR-1264);

RevoSlot GT Series

 Models Allowed

  • Any of the following RevoSlot models are allowed.
    • Porsche GT2
    • Marcos LM600
    • Dodge Viper
    • Toyota Supra
    • Lister Storm [?]
  • Racers must select a livery prior to the series.
  • No more than two of the same liveries are allowed.

Body

  • No modifications to the body are allowed.
  • The stock lexan cockpit and the windows may be Shoe Goo’ed in place to keep them secure.
  • Shoe Goo may be used to secure body pieces but may not be used in excess as ballast.
  • Body must start every race with all major parts intact including windows and wings.
  • Antennas, mirrors, wipers, tow hooks, and other small, protruding parts from the body are not required.
  • Wings must always be in place at the start of every heat.  The wings must be held on securely with glue or tape, so they will not fall off during a heat.  The penalty for starting a heat without the wing will be 5 laps.  There will be no penalty for losing a wing during a heat.
  • If white body kit is used, exterior of body must be painted with at least one coat of paint.
  • If white body kit is used, the body must have numbers displayed on both sides and the top of the car.
  • The use of the rubber body bumpers is optional.  These can be Shoe Goo’ed in place.
  • Body screws must be stock; they can be taped over to prevent loss during the race. The tape may not control body or pod movement. If a screw falls off the car, a 5 lap penalty will be imposed if the screw causes an issue with a competitor’s car.

 Chassis

  • No modifications to chassis are allowed.
  • Sanding the chassis in any way is not allowed.
  • Modifications to the chassis float is not allowed.
  • All chassis screws must be stock and be in place at the start of every race.
  • Front and rear axle holders cannot be modified in any way.
  • Front and rear bearing must be stock.  Ceramic bearings are not allowed.
  • Only the stock deep guides are allowed.
  • Pick-up braids are free choice.
  • Traction magnets are not allowed.
  • Ballast of any type is not allowed.
  • Lead wires are free choice.  These wires can be hot glued or taped to the chassis to limit the contact with the front axle.

Motor

  • Only the stock RevoSlot motor is allowed.  FK-130, SC-0015B
  • Modifications to the motor are not allowed.

 Motor Pod

  • Only the stock RevoSlot motor pod is allowed.
  • Sanding of an older motor pod is allowed in order to make the length of the opening equal the newer castings length of 26.5mm from the 25.5mm they are in their stock form.
  • Modifications to the motor pod float is not allowed.
  • Modifications to the motor holder are not allowed.
  • All motor pod screws must be stock and be in place at the start of every race.

 Gears

  • Only the RevoSlot 33t spur gear and 12t pinions are allowed.
  • Gear ratio is set.
  • The gear mesh can be adjusted using the motor holder.
  • Modifications to spur gear and pinion are not allowed.
  • The stock grub screw on the spur gear must be used.

 Wheels

  • Front wheels must be the stock RevoSlot.
  • Rear wheels must be the stock RevoSlot.  If you are running a Viper or Toyota you will need to either purchase the 10mm wide wheels, #RS-109 or use the stock 11mm wheels and run an o-ring spacer on the wheel along with the 10mm tires.
  • All wheels must have wheel inserts.
  • Wheel inserts from any RevoSlot car can be used on any of the RevoSlot models.
  • Modifications to the wheels in any way are not allowed.
  • Axle spacers are open choice.
  • The front wheel track must not exceed 62mm.
  • The rear wheel track must not exceed 63mm.
  • The stock wheel grub screws must be used.

 Axles

  • Only the stock axles are allowed.
  • Modifications to the axles in any way are not allowed.
  • Axle spacers are open choice.

 Tires

  • Rear tires must be RevoSlot RS-202.  These are the stock tires on the Porsche and the Marcos but are not on the Viper and Supra.  If you are using the stock 11mm width wheels on the Viper or Toyota the use of an o-ring on the rear wheel to allow the 10mm tires will be permitted.  The o-ring you will need is ½” I.D., 5/8” O.D., width 1/16”, industry number #014.
  • Front tires must be stock, part #RS-201, hard tires.
  • Tires may be trued and have their edges rounded.
  • Tires may not be trued in a conical shape
  • Front tires are not allowed to be polished or hardened in any way.

 Track Power

  • The series will be raced at 12 Volts.

 General

  • If it is not mentioned it is not legal.
  • These rules were written to create a fair event and not for racers to look for loopholes.
  • Any deviation to these rules must be run by the series manager before the car can be tech’ed.

NSR GT3 Series

Models

Body

  • Required: OEM hard glass & cockpit (no Lexan). At the start of each weekly-round & all Heats; major body parts (esp. windows, lights, wings) must be intact. Wings must be re-attached for each heat. Permitted: Wings can be reinforced with ShoeGoo, styrene or rubber (e.g. Thunderslot donut holes cut to parallelogram shape).
  • Permitted: Small Vulnerable Parts: antennas, mirrors, wipers, tow-hooks do Not have to be replaced after race damage. Driver's legs/feet can be trimmed to prevent contact with motor shaft, axle, ballast or underside of body.
  • Permitted: Smoothing the various bumps on the light-buckets *if* front tires are contacting them. Thin washers on the front body post to solve tire contact, etc.
  • Options: White Kits must be painted or decaled; Required: three race numbers (both doors plus either -Hood, -Trunk, -Roof, or -Windshield)
    **Duplicate Pre-Decorated Liveries must be made unique - either with Different Race Numbers, painted wings or body panels, or decals.
  • Prohibited: Tires visible past 0.5mm from skirt/fender/wheel-well (when inspected from above)

Chassis

  • Options: *Recommended* Extra-Hard-Green or Hard-White chassis/pan; OEM Black-Medium hard
    Example:  ASV WH1459, GR1488; C7 WH1492, GR1494; R8 WH1475, GR1486; Z4 WH1463, GR1489 etc.
  • Required: Drop Arm - Red/Hard (NSR-1234)  Permitted:  Arm may be screw-fixed, floppy, or spring-loaded.
  • Permitted: Flash may be sanded; and molding nipples removed. Ballast for tuning weight-distribution on chassis or motor pod.
  • Open Choice: OEM or Brass 4-40 axle adjustment screws.
  • Options: *Recommended* NSR Guides -Wood (deep/long) screw mount (NSR-4859); OEM snap-in (NSR-4841) *good to add shims under pan to remove slop and extend the depth of the keel/blade.
  • Open-Choice: Motor Lead Wires, Grommets, Pick-up braid (i.e not required to be NSR brand)
  • Open-Choice: Body (and motor pod) Screws (i.e. may be smooth shank brass screws from Slot.IT or NSR)
  • Prohibited: Magnets; ballast below the pan; gaps with body and chassis (or pod) exceeding 1mm (credit card thickness)

Motor

  • Permitted: If the 'rapper comes off (dawg!), if the "can tattoo" for Model/RPM is Viewable the motor can pass. Tattoos resist lubes and VooDoo juice.
  • Permitted: Trimming Endbell Side Shaft for tire clearance. Shaving the can, on the drive side, near the Spur gear bushing for clearance.
  • Prohibited: ANGLEWINDERS AND INLINES ESP. LONG-CANS Changes to the armature, brushes, bushings, magnets.

Motor Pod

  • Options: *Recommended* Sidewinder OEM Red/Hard (NSR-1264); Black/Medium (NSR-1262) Triangular
  • Permitted: Gluing motor to the pod. No screw holes are in the OEM pod.
  • Prohibited: Pod protruding below the chassis more than 0.5mm;  IW AND SW

Gears

  • *Recommended* OEM Pinion: 6.45mm-DIA 11z  NSR-6911A (NSR does not have any other 6.45 pinions)

Body

  • Mandatory: Body must start every race with all major parts intact (e.g. windows and wings).
    • Permitted: Antennas, mirrors, wipers, tow hooks, and other small parts damaged from accidents do not have to be replaced.
  • Mandatory: Wings must be attached at Green flag for Heat. Wing repairs must occur during green flag. Wings not replaced before end of a Heat incur 10 lap penalty.
    • Wings lost or damaged in last lap do Not incur a penalty.
  • Permitted: White kits and Fantasy Liveries. White Kits must be painted (or decaled uniquely) with at least one coat.  At least two numbers must be visible.
  • Open Choice: Body and pod screws. Optionally taped to prevent loss. Lost screws that cause issues with a competitor’s car, incur a Five lap penalty.
  • Permitted: Light kits. Removal of body material for light installation must be minimum. e.g. a hole for an LED is acceptable, but a complete removal of a head light bucket is Not. What is considered “Too much" - will be determined by the Scrutineer.

Chassis

  • Mandatory: Chassis must be of type intended for body. Permitted: Motor pod cut-outs can be removed.
  • Permitted: OEM Slot.It chassis (EVO, EVO6, etc.)   Prohibited: Metal or Slot.IT HRS upgrade chassis
  • Permitted: Flashing on chassis/body may be trimmed to allow better "Float". “Too much" - will be determined by the Scrutineer.
  • Permitted: OEM Front axle lower adjustment Caps. Prohibited: Modification to the upper axle loops (i.e. you cant modify the older New-old-stock chassis that has no adjustable axle carriers).
  • Mandatory: Slot.IT brand guides; SICH-07 deep wood/routed screw guide highly recommended.
  • Open Choice: Pick-up braids; Motor/lead wires.
  • Prohibited: Traction magnets; ballast below the pan./chassis; chassis/pod contacting the track.
  • Permitted: Ballast (lead, tungsten, etc.) above the chassis pan. Lost screws that cause issues with a competitor’s car, incur a Five lap penalty.
  • Permitted: Slot.IT independent front axle kit;  Slot.IT magnetic suspension kits.

Motor & Mounting Pod/carrier

  • Mandatory: Slot.IT brand 21.5K or 23k RPM motors - Inline orientation/pod.
    • Slot.IT SIMX16 V12/4, short-can, 23K rpm motor Inline 170 g*cm;  Older, SIMX06 V12/3, short-can, 21.5K rpm motor Inline 170 g*cm
  • Permitted: Motor mounting screws; tape; glue.  Tape used to prevent Pod Screws from falling out.
  • Prohibited: Modifications to armature, bushings, magnets;  POD protruding below chassis.
  • Permitted: Flashing may be trimmed from Pod to allow better "Float". “Too much" - will be determined by the Scrutineer.
  • Mandatory: Slot.IT CH14 (stock) spherical bushings

Gears

  • Mandatory: Slot.IT brand gears and pinions.

BRM GT40 / Ferrari P3

Series Overview

This series will be a basically box-stock series.  There are few replacement parts that will be allowed.  All the parts of the model must be the ones used in the box stock car and must be fitted as supplied by BRM.  Part replacement, or modification, can only be done according to the rules herein.

There are 3 cars eligible for this series:

  • BRM Ford GT40 MKII
  • BRM Ferrari 330 P4
  • BRM Ferrari 412P

CAR BODIES

  • Bodies must be complete in all its parts including filler caps, glass and all interior parts. Mirrors, front winglets, wipers, antennas, and tow hooks may be left off the car.
  • The body cannot be modified in any way nor can it be made lighter by sanding or any other means.
  • You are allowed to re-enforce body part items from the inside of the body with Shoe Goo.
    • These items include:  headlight buckets, filler caps, exhausts, windows and rear lights.
    • Shoe Goo is not allowed to be used as weight. The intent of these rules is to allow strengthening of the body to help prevent crash damage, not to tune the car.
  • White body kits can be used. They must be completely painted so that no unpainted areas are visible.  Clear coating the white plastic body is not allowed.
  • Windscreens must remain transparent. Only window decals as included in the standard models or decals added in self painted kits may be used as long as they are the same size as the stock window decals.
  • Interior windshield, side and rear window “glass” must be fitted to the car at all times.
  • The cockpit, the dashboard and the driver must be present at all times.
  • The cockpit, the dashboard and the driver must be painted.
  • You may reinforce the cockpit with Shoe Goo.

MODEL CHASSIS

  • Magnets are not allowed.
  • No modifications to the chassis are allowed.
  • Adhesive tape is allowed under the chassis to prevent the loss of screws that fix the body.

WHEELS and TIRES

  • In no case may the wheels and tires be visible outside the body when viewed from above.
  • Either the standard BRM front and rear wheels or the optional lightweight BRM wheels spec'd for these cars can be used.
  • You are not allowed to true any tires with an angled profile.
  • The stock BRM Hard front tires are required.
    • You are not allowed to treat the front tires with anything to limit their grip.
  • Racers have two choices of tire:
    • The box-stock shore 30 rubber tire from BRM.
      • Note: These tires are not as durable as the Paul Gage Urethane tires, but do provide superior grip.  Racers are advised to keep the durability aspect in mind with the summer track temperatures.
    • The Paul Gage Urethane, shore 20, part #XPG-21125LMDF. (Part number to be confirmed)
      • Note: These tires are easy to mount and true.  Be sure you glue them to the rim as well as truing them and rounding their edges.  These tires do not grip as well as the stock tires but they will last significantly longer.
  • Wheel inserts must be fitted to all wheels.
    • Inserts must be painted if they are from a white kit.

BUSHING and AXLES

  • Only BRM rear bearings are allowed.
  • Rear Bearings may be glued into the chassis.
  • The bearings may not be modified in any way.
  • Only original BRM front bearings are allowed.
    • These may not be modified in any way.
  • Any axle spacers are allowed.
  • Only BRM axles are allowed.

PICK-UP GUIDE and BRAID

  • Only BRM guide is allowed. You are allowed to use shims between the pick-up guide and the chassis.
  • All guide shims are allowed.
  • All braids are allowed.
  • Braid juice may be added to the braid at any time.

MOTORS

  • Only Stock BRM Electric short-can “BRM BLUE” 19,000 rpm motors are allowed.
  • Motor cannot be fastened to the chassis by glue or tape.
  • Removal or opening of the identification label on the motor is prohibited.
  • All motor leads are allowed.

GEARS

  • BRM anglewinder nylon or brass 11T or 12T pinions must be used
  • Any BRM anglewinder spur gear may be used

Cars

Body

  • Body modifications are Prohibited except as noted here.
  • The rear mounting tab can be extended with a plastic shim/sandwich (see
    Marty's mod in the Forum    ) to keep the rear tires from contacting
    the rear of the wheel well.
  • OEM hard plastic cockpits and glass are Mandatory. Lexan
    cockpits/drivers, glass Prohibited.
  • Mandatory: Body must start every heat with radiators, windows, and wings
    attached.
  • Antennas, mirrors, wipers, and tow hooks are Not Required and do not
    have to be replaced if they come off.
  • White kits are Permitted but must be painted, or decaled uniquely, with
    at least one coat of paint.
  • Two race numbers must be visible.
  • Body screws Open Choice. These can be taped over to prevent
    drops/loss.

Chassis

  • OEM Black (medium) chassis and any other color/hardness NSR chassis
    designed for the Abarth 500 are Permitted.
  • Modifications to the chassis are Prohibited, including sanding.
  • Ballast is Permitted but must be above/inside the chassis.

Guide

  • NSR brand guides are Mandatory, any model is Permitted.
  • The blade Must be 17mm or less in length to navigate the tight
    corners/turns on our track.
  • Note: Non-rally NSR "wood guides" must have their length shortened
    to 17mm.
  • Pick-up braids and Guide spacers - Open Choice.

Motor

  • Any NSR short can motor Permitted.
  • Modifications to the motor Prohibited (rewinds, armature swaps, mag
    zaps/swaps)
  • Lead-wires and lead-wire/guide terminals (grommets, eyelets) Open
    Choice.

Motor Pod

  • NSR sidewinder motor pod Mandatory.
  • Sanding of motor pod Prohibited.
  • Permitted - motor held in place with M2 screws (Open Choice)
  • Prohibited - motor held in place with tape or glue.
  • OEM stock NSR brass bushings are Mandatory. Bushings may be glued in
    place.
  • Pod screws - Open Choice.

Gears

  • NSR brand gears are Mandatory.
  • Gear Ratio value is Open.
    • Spur size is Open, but must be the OEM material
      (Aluminum)
    • Pinion size is Open, but must be brass.
  • Modifications to spur or pinion gears are Prohibited.

Wheels

  • OEM NSR brand wheels are Mandatory
    • Rear wheels –
      • Diameter - 18mm Width – 8mm Material – Aluminum
    • Front wheels –
      • Diameter - 16mm Width – 8mm Material - Aluminum
    • NSR brand Inserts are Mandatory but may be interchanged from
      different NSR models.
    • Modifications to wheels Prohibited.

    Axles

    • OEM stock NSR solid axles are Mandatory. Hollow and
      independent axles are Prohibited.
    • Modifications to axles are Prohibited.
    • Stop-collars, spacers, and washers are Open Choice.

    Tires

    • Any NSR tires are allowed.
    • Tires may be glued, trued, and have their edges
      rounded/chamfered.
    • Traction compounds are Prohibited.
    • Varnishing Front tires (with CA or nail polish) is
      Prohibited.
    • Wheel/tire must not be visible outside wheel-well/fender
      when viewed from above.

    Track Power: Adjustable per racer/heat, and
    round/week

    Targa Florio 1970-1973

    This series will be run on the rally track. Direction will be
    determined by coin toss.
    Track voltage is at entrant’s discretion.

    • Cars eligible:
    • Any car that was entered in the Targa Florio in the years
      1970, ‘71, ’72, and ’73. Cars that were DNS, or DNF are
      fine. (Partial list will be provided later)
  • Models allowed:
    • Any slot car that is a reasonably scale depiction of the
      above. Must be
      within 12% of 1/32 scale plus or minus. That is a 24%
      window. Thunderslot models, for example, are too
      over-wide, and are not eligible.       Cars must have
      driver figure and Steering wheel. Lightweight interiors are
      okay. Glazing must be in place. If your car has a navigator
      figure, you do not need to remove it if you want to keep it
      un-modified. Historic liveries are not required, but very
      much encouraged. Avoid duplicate liveries if at all
      possible.
    • To avoid The series becoming too overloaded with a single
      model (Porsche 908/3, or the Lola T280/290, for example)
      We’re considering a limit to how many of a given model can
      race on a given race day. We want to se a more varied
      selection of entries this coming year
    • Please post a picture of your car (s) Model, or 1:1 to the
      rules thread, so we can get an idea of what cars and
      liveries will be entered.
  • Motor, gearing:

  • Axles, bushings, bearings open. Wheels must be a good faith
    effort at scale, with inserts. Maximum wheel/tire width 10mm
    front and rear. (This may be subject to change)

  • Any rubber or urethane compound. Truing and gluing is
    encouraged. Coating of front tires with nail-polish, C/A glue,
    etc is permitted.
  • Chassis and drive layout:
  • Chassis must not scrape or rub track surface.
  • Braid, guide, and motor leads.

For the NSR Porsche GT challenge, there was some consensus last week to make it an all angle winder series. If there are no objections could we update that in the rules?

Also forgot to mention in rules that the usual ballast rule is in effect. (Topside of chassis, no weight limit at this time)
