NSR Formula 22
Round 1
Sept. 21, 2024

As we start the final quarter of 2024, it’s time for the first race of NSR Formula 22 series. These beautiful cars are based on a 2022 Formula One chassis. There are several liveried models available including Aston Martin, McLaren, Alpine, and Alfa. White kits can be customized to the driver’s choice as well. The series is basically spec requiring NSR F22 components. The two exceptions are Slot.it crowns and axle stoppers, if so desired.

Five cars started the first round of the series. Randy built a Chaparral themed car as a salute to Jim Hall. It is white with black wings, numbered 66 and even has a Texas flag on the rear wing. Marc built a custom liveried Red Bull in a medium flat blue, nicely detailed with Max Verstappen at the wheel. Erik brought a blue number 1 NSR F22 that he built on Saturday morning. This car as set up was very quick. Dave built a Fernando Alonso Aston Martin number 14 with a lime green extra hard chassis that is bullet fast. John also built an Alonso Aston but chose the white hard chassis with Fernando at the helm. Some of the racers chose to give their cars more detail by using the highly decorated drivers helmets from Interlagos Miniatures sold by Electric Dreams. These tiny Brazilian crafted helmets are really works of art.

The Formula 22 cars are quick and require throttle finesse to keep out of trouble. John did his best to destroy his Aston past the bridge, but the car proved to be surprisingly resilient. Despite several crashes and a number of deslots, no one appeared to have any real damage.

When the dust settled, Dave was in a class of his own with a total of 228.83 laps and a best time of 3.717. Erik drove to a strong second with 218.82 and a great 3.842. John followed in third with 210.77 and a best time of 3.934. Marc ran 4th with 206.21 laps and a 3.927. Randy was close behind in 5th with 205.25 and a best lap of 4.015.

As these cars are sorted out, expect far better laps and times. And what will Marty, Brian, Kim, or anyone else joining the second round bring to the table? Join us live for the second round of the series on Saturday, October 5th at 2pm. I wouldn’t miss it.
