The club kicked off our last race day of the year with the Slot.it Challenge. We welcomed two new club members to the race, Kevin F. and Brett L., who both made respectable showings for their first race in a club series. We’re all looking forward to competing with them in 2012!
The race to the final podium of the series was one of the most exciting we have seen all year. When the dust settled, first, second, and third places were separated by only 7/10ths of a lap! In addition to a close finish, this race saw two drivers record their fastest race lap of the year! (More on that in another post.)
After all the points were totaled the close finish in this final race turned out to be the precursor to an equally close series finish. Marty eeked out a first place finish by one point and just 11.55 laps, bumping Russell down one spot to second. Although Russell enjoys a greater point advantage over Ary in third place, the positions are only separated by 8 laps after six weeks of racing!

We are putting the Group C Slot.it cars in the garage for the next six months as we begin to prep for our next Slot.it challenge with the ’60s prototype. But they won’t be forgotten and everything we have learned about tuning these cars will go with us into 2012, which promises to include more exciting racing!
The final results for the 2011 Overall Championship are being tallied, so stay tuned for more racing news as we wrap up a great year racing in the heart of central Texas.
Congrats, Marty!
