Warm temperatures and quick lap times were the order of the day for the second stage of our 2026 Targa Florio rally. Some odd electrical gremlins cropped up on the rally track just before race time. The numerical voltage display at the driver station went dark, and the relay that cuts power to the track before and after each heat and supplied power during the heats was stuck in the “on” position, so care had to be taken not to jump the gun.
Jeff from Houston took charge, and took first with an NSR Porsche 908/3 turning in a blistering 255.77 seconds for 40 laps. Dave C took second with a 263.6 time, and Marc T. rounded out the podium with a 268.0 time.
The wide, flat Sports racers have been better than production cars. Not surprising, but I think with some tuning and practice the narrower cars will shine.
