2026 NSR F1 1986-1989

After a blistering summer,  rains brought some welcome relief. Temps were in the 80s and the track was clean thanks to Dave.  Mark’s new air conditioner was put into place and cooling well. Thanks Mark!

Turnout was light today, as Brian had Teddy, his Lab, at the vet and had to leave.  Marty’s car wasn’t ready.  Other regulars including Kim, Steve, Josh and Melvin were out as well.

Group A was represented by Dave with his vivid orange Jagermeister, John’s green and blue 7UP Jordan and Marc’s blue Leyton House. Dave was flying, taking 1st, running 233.34 laps and a best lap of 3.619 seconds. Marc Tyler ran 2nd with a respectable 224.37 lap run and a best of 3.734. 3rd went to John with 219.35 laps and a best of 3.841. Group A ran at 11 volts instead of usual 12 after testing by several members at both voltages.  11 was chosen as a more tractable alternative with lap times  not being affected.

Group B came to the line with Mark Lyon’s red Ferrari and Randy’s “Lone Star J.R.” silver Indy livery.   Randy took 1st with 206.49 laps and a best of 4.012.  Mark’s first time out in this series had a good showing with 204.7 laps and best of 4.114 for 2nd.  B ran their usual 10 volts.

Formula 86/89 cars, once properly set up, are quick and fun to drive.  They have a shorter wheelbase than the F22 and can really fly. As the days cool off, there is plenty of racing left for 2026 with Formula 86/69 and Porsche 997 being campaigned through December.
